Upcover and Lawpath partner to streamline legal and insurance services for Australian SMEs
Upcover, Australia’s only digital-first commercial insurance platform, has partnered with legal tech leader Lawpath to offer an integrated solution simplifying legal and insurance needs for small businesses and startups.
The partnership addresses a long-standing gap in Australia’s business services sector: disjointed access to essential services like insurance and legal documentation. This new bundled offering, set to launch in June, will be accessible via both platforms, allowing Australian businesses to purchase tailored insurance coverage alongside custom legal documents in a seamless, online experience.
Upcover and Lawpath’s collaboration comes at a time when the demand for digital-first services is surging. Despite 95% of commercial insurance still being distributed offline in Australia, upcover’s rapid growth shows businesses are eager for smarter, tech-driven alternatives. Lawpath, trusted by over 500,000 businesses, similarly sees this as a strategic evolution in offering end-to-end business compliance support.
“This partnership is about breaking down yet another barrier for small businesses,” said Anish Sinha (pictured), Co-Founder and COO of Upcover.
“We’ve built upcover to challenge the analogue incumbents and to bring business insurance into the digital age. One in three businesses that quote with us take insurance from us, that’s because we’re offering coverage that actually fits their needs. By teaming up with Lawpath, we’re combining two essential services, legal and insurance, into a single, automated experience that reflects how modern businesses operate.”
Lawpath CEO Dominic Woolrych added, “Our customers often ask us for help with business insurance, just as many of upcover’s clients need legal documents. This partnership brings two essential services under one roof, simplifying operations for Australia’s entrepreneurs and business owners.”
The joint offering will initially focus on sole traders and early-stage businesses, offering packages that include public liability, professional indemnity and directors’ insurance alongside key legal documents like shareholder agreements, employment contracts and IP protections.
Over time, the partners plan to expand into other verticals with industry-specific bundles and embedded service offerings.
Upcover and Lawpath’s integration is also supported by both companies’ existing technology stacks, enabling one-click purchase paths, automated onboarding and ongoing compliance support powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
